Science Classes Offered for Spring/Fall Semesters 2016-2017



Apologia Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology (Young Explorer Series) with Anita Kristmanits Apologia
Scheduled for Tuesdays 9:30 to 11
Cost is $5 a class for drop off and $3 for co op families
Materials fee of $15 for each semester.
Class Maximum 12 students.
The Notebooking Journal is used as well as the book in this course.   This is a lab based class so each week will be hands-on and it is expected that the reading will be done at home in preparation.
This class is geared for 5th thru 8th grade. This book is more advanced than the other ones in this series. It is a challenging study of anatomy/physiology.

Apologia Physical Science with Anita Krismanits Apologia Physical Science
Scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday 11:30 to 1
Cost is $5 a class for drop off and $3 for co op families
Materials fee of $15 for each semester.
Class Maximum 12 students.
This class is geared for those who have completed or are enrolled in pre-Algebra 7th thru 9th grade. We will be using the 2nd edition. This is a lab based class so each week will be hands-on and it is expected that the reading will be done at home in preparation.

Anita is a mom of 4 and is currently home schooling her youngest, Erin. Originally from Florida, she comes to Crossville by way of Colorado. She graduated with a BS in Biology with a Zoology specialization from the University of Cincinnati. She then completed an internship with the Cincinnati Zoo after which she was offered the opportunity to work in Embryo Transplant research with Dr. Betsy Dresser in a cooperative program between the Cincinnati Zoo and the University of Cincinnati.


Exploring Creation with Chemistry with Craig Clark
Scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday 11:30 to 1
Cost is $5 a class for drop off and $4 for co op families
Instructor grading of assignments and tests available for $1 per week per student.
Student minimum class size is 4.
Required text: Exploring Creation with Chemistry, 2nd Edition.  
Note that the long time publisher of Apologia science texts has only the recently published 3rd edition.  We are using the 2nd edition for this class.  ***Please purchase carefully to be sure that both the text and solutions/test books are 2nd edition materials.
Students must bring the student textbook and the solutions/test book and a scientific calculator (does not have to be programmable).  Labs are integrated into the scheduled class times. Students must purchase and maintain a lab notebook.

Scheduled for Monday and Wednesdays 9:30 to 10:30
Cost is $5 a class for drop off and $4 for co op families

This is a college-prep physics course is designed for the student who has completed algebra 1 and geometry and has had an introduction to the definitions of sine, cosine, and tangent.  Students must bring the student textbook and the solutions/test book and a scientific calculator (does not have to be programmable) to each class.  Labs are integrated into the scheduled class times.

Raised in northeast Missouri, Craig attended and graduated from University of Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1982.  He then pursued a 26 year career as a professional civil engineer with the Texas Dept. of Transportation, retiring as district engineer in Corpus Christi, TX in 2008.  His work involved design, construction, maintenance and operations of roads and bridges in several regions of the state as well as coordinating innovative work with university researchers and trade organizations.  Since 2008, he has partnered with his wife, Linda, to provide a Christ centered home education for their kids in all subjects through grade 12. Craig taught math using Math-U-See through Calculus supplementing Algebra and Geometry with Teaching Textbook.  He taught science usingApologia including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.  Craig is looking forward to sharing his math and science knowledge and practical experience with future generations.
