ACT class description
Spring semester 2017 Day/Time to be established
Class fee:  $10 per 2 hr class session
Minimum class size:  4 students

Classes will meet Wednesdays, 12-2 (bring your lunch) February 8th through April 5th in advance of the April 8th test date. Students will have the opportunity to take the April test with a fresh review and still have the opportunity to retake the test June 10th if not satisfied with their score.

Achieving the best ACT score possible will position students favorably in an increasingly competitive environment for college admissions and scholarships.  Our plan is to provide 16 hrs of instruction in advance of the April  ACT test.  In addition to pursuing a rigorous college prep curriculum in the high school years, specifically studying for ACT prep can help students achieve a better score.  Attending the class and taking the practice tests will require approximately 30 hrs.  Supplemental study at home can qualify this class to be a 1/2 credit for high school transcripts.

Prerequisites:  none are required, but completion of at least Algebra 2 is strongly advised.
Materials:  textbook, pencils, calculator approved for ACT exam purposes (ACT calculator policy), notepaper

Textbook:  The Princeton Review: Cracking the ACT 2016 Edition   ISBN 978-1-101-88198-9

Students planning to take the ACT must register independently for the exam at this website:  ACT website

Instructors for the class will be Craig and Linda Clark.  Both are well seasoned home educators with 16 years of  experience and  are also registered professional engineers.   Besides prepping their own high school student, they have been team teaching ACT prep for Sylvan Learning Centers for the past two years.  Diligent students in their classes have significantly improved their scores.
